Concrete Wonderland is a series depicting 35mm film photographs transferred onto woodblocks covered in a mixture of marble and acrylic. The process was intended to mimic Olivas’s father’s work who utilizes a similar aesthetic. Using this technique creates rough, textural pieces with unpredictable cracking and shape. Each piece in the series includes a line from Olivas’s poem titled “Kissing Concrete.” Shown at Good Mother Gallery in Oakland.
